Carolina Designer Craftsmen 38th Annual Fine Craft and Design Show Announced

Raleigh, NC (PRWEB) July 12, 2007 -- In a time when "honest" craftsmanship is almost a lost art, some still prefer the old-fashioned ways. They joyfully formulate natural dyes, weave fabrics, dig clay, concoct glazes, make paper, invent tools, and even grow natural materials for use in their craft. On Thanksgiving weekend over 100 dedicated professional craftspeople will gather for the 2007 Annual Carolina Designer Craftsmen Fine Craft and Design Show.

The fall craft festival and sale, long considered to be the premier crafts showcase in the Triangle area, will be held at the Exposition Center at the NC State Fairgrounds in Raleigh, NC. Craft media will include pottery, clay, sculpture, fiber arts, wearables, stained and blown glass, jewelry, metalwork, wood-turning, furniture making, photography, printmaking and mixed media. All exhibitors are juried, all work must be entirely original, and all work must be made by hand. Each piece is an individual creation, perhaps a future treasure.

Craft show dates and hours are Friday evening, November 23 from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m.; all day Saturday, November 24 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; and Sunday, November 25 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Admission is $6.00 daily, $8.00 weekend pass.

The Carolina Designer Craftsmen Guild serves the crafts community by recognizing the importance of preserving high standards, inspiring fellow crafters and promoting public appreciation of fine crafts. This associated group of craft workers seeks to encourage and stimulate activity in the major crafts and provides a profitable marketplace for the finest contemporary crafts in the Southeast.

In 2006, Carolina Designer Craftsmen launched a new program called Masterworks where members will be pushing the edges in craft. This year there will be a special exhibit area to show what can be done when a craftsman dares to go past the easily attainable and makes that exciting piece. This masterpiece will be a one-of-a-kind that is on the cutting edge of craft. The quality, beauty and originality of the Masterworks will offer a new example of where craft can really go.

Consider the best - the 2007 Carolina Designer Craftsmen 38th Annual Fine Craft and Design Show!
